GRTgaz Employs OROS Satellite for Remote Vibration Monitoring

GRTgaz Employs OROS Satellite for Remote Vibration Monitoring

Remote Vibration Diagnostics of a Compressor Train

GRTgaz is a world leader in natural gas transmission system in France. Their transmission system consists of pipelines through which natural gas flows at high pressure, in excess of 60 bar. GRT gaz’s role is to develop, operate and maintain its network of pipelines and to sell capacity to natural gas suppliers.
Natural gas flows through the GRTgaz transmission pipeline.  As in any piping system, loses in velocity and pressure will occur.  Booster compression stations are located approximately every 150 km to maintain design pressures and flow rates. Some of the compression stations are equipped with one or more turbo-compressor machine trains.  These stations are often unmanned. Therefore, an automated control and monitoring system is required for the compression equipment.
GRTgaz regularly uses an OROS Mobi-Pack analyzer with ORBIGate software for the routine, periodic analysis of vibration measurements on the machines. The need of a mobile continuous recording analysis monitoring system emerged to solve a randomly occurring vibration problem. They choose OROS and its Satellite solution (autonomous system for temporary monitoring). Read the full Application Note (requires first to be logged in myOROS).
