Static and dynamic torques measurements

The measurement of static and dynamic torques are necessary tests/monitoring for the safety of large machines.

The classical instrumentation for these measurements must be integrated in the drive shaft (torque-meter, slip ring or wireless strain gauge).

This constraint is acceptable when integrated during the manufacturing of the machine, even if the cost of integrating a torque meter remains high.

Periodic measurements

For periodic measurements, these techniques are not affordable or even dangerous.

The use of the transmission shaft flexibility, which twists proportionally to the applied torque, can be exploited to trace the torque. By positioning 2 optical, non-contact, torsional sensors on each side of the coupling, to measure the shaft angles.

Torsion solution

Connected to an OROS torsional instrument, the software calculates, in real-time, the twist (in plane angle) between the 2 sensors with a resolution down to 1/1000 of degree up to 10 000 RPM and the dynamic/static torque with accuracy.
